Comfortable Victory for Schwanitz in Stockholm City Square
The Stockholm Bauhaus Athletics meeting began this evening with the women’s shot put held in the Kungstradgarden in the city centre, only metres away from the Parliament building where the IAAF was founded in 1912, following the Stockholm Olympics.
High Expectations for Jumps and Middle Distance Stars
A trio of international stars spoke to the world’s media at the official Stockholm Bauhaus Athletics press conference this afternoon ahead of tomorrow evening’s IAAF Diamond League, with long jumpers Greg Rutherford and Michel Torneus, and middle distance man, Ayanleh Souleiman offering their aims for the event and thoughts on their seasons so far.

World leader and world record holder added to the 110m hurdles at Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics
Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics has already announced the participation of USA’s World Champion, David Oliver in the 110m hurdles at Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium. Now they can reveal an outstanding field, which includes the current world leader in the event, Orlando Ortega (CUB), world record holder, Aries Merritt (USA) and the two best in Europe, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde (FRA) and Sergei Shubenkov (RUS).
Jamaica’s World and Olympic champion confirmed for Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics
With just over two weeks until Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics, it was announced that the world’s fastest woman is coming to Stockholm. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is the reigning World and Olympic 100m champion, who has recorded three of the five fastest times in the world over the distance this year. Big Shot makes a comeback during Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics week
The Stockholm meeting organisers were one of the first to take athletics out of the stadium when they arranged a successful shot put competition in Kungsträdgården city square and many international athletics organisers have since followed Stockholm’s lead and held the event in popular city centre locations. After a short break the Big Shot will make a comeback to Kungsträdgården on Wednesday 29 July, and will be one more event to feature during the week of the Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics Diamond League meeting.
