Echevarría is ready for BAUHAUS-galan after his 8,83 last year
Four stadium records were set at last year’s BAUHAUS-galan but the leading performance was Juan Miguel Echevarría’s fantastic 8.83m in the long jump, which was only twelve centimetres from the 27 year-old world record. On 30 May, he is back at Stockholm Olympic Stadium where the line-up also includes reigning Olympic, World and European Champions plus Sweden’s indoor European silver medallist, Thobias Montler. Fantastic high jump field at BAUHAUS-galan on 30 May
On Friday in Doha Erika Kinsey finished second in the high jump at the first Diamond League meeting of the season – her best ever position at this level of competition. At BAUHAUS-galan on 30 May she will face the six best ranked women in the world, including the number one, the dominant World and European Champion, Mariya Lasitskene. Can Erika Kinsey take one more step up and challenge for victory at Stockholm Olympic Stadium?
BAUHAUS-galan – an excellent opportunity for Swedish middle distance runners
BAUHAUS-galan provides a unique opportunity for Swedish athletes to compete against the best in the world and produce quality results. This applies not least to middle distance runners, which currently include an array of Swedish talent, ready to run fast this summer. Amongst these are Kalle Berglund, Andreas Kramer, Lovisa Lindh and Hanna Hermansson.
Towards our 10th Diamond League Season
Preparations for BAUHAUS-galan on Thursday 30 May are well underway and it’s going to be a busy day with youth competitions, a family festival and the Diamond League meeting in the evening. The best in Sweden and the whole world will be there. This is the 10th season of the Diamond League and Stockholm Olympic Stadium has been host every one of those years.
Wunderkind Jakob Ingebrigtsen announced for BAUHAUS-galan
Jakob Ingebrigtsen, 18, claimed double gold at the European Championships in Berlin last summer and followed up with gold and silver at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow in March. Older brothers Henrik and Filip, who have also won European 1500m gold, are accompanying him to Stockholm’s Diamond League meeting. Local interest will be supplied by Sweden’s number one, Kalle Berglund.
2019 Diamond League events now confirmed
Events in the 14 Diamond League meetings rotate from year to year and now that next year’s programme has been presented we can see that, in the main, the best ’Swedish’ events will feature at BAUHAUS-galan. So, for example, there’s a good chance we’ll be able to see Armand ”Mondo” Duplantis (pic) in the pole vault and Daniel Ståhl in the discus at Stockholm Olympic Stadium on Thursday 30 May 2019.
